Pig Traps

BKW designs custom pig traps for operators that need to chase liquids using pigs. Receiver traps remove all liquids when receiving a pig. Pig Traps include special purpose launchers and receivers, subsea retrievable traps, and multiple automatic pig launchers and receivers. Pig Traps can be barrels only or skid-mounted including valve blow downs. Only two tie-ins are required and they are in and out.

In gas gathering systems that have associated liquids, Pig Traps are required because pigs are used for removing liquids accumulations, which in hilly country could cause gas lock. 

Sphere Traps

BKW sphere launchers use BKW launch pins for launching. Pins can be operated using air, gas from the pipeline, or hydraulic. Sphere traps can be skid-mounted including valves and jib cranes.

Shown below is a 10” ANSI 600 skid mounted pig trap with an ESD valve equipped with 3” blow downs and a crossover. Drip pan is built into skid. Equipped with drain.

BKW fabricated an 8” wireline pig launcher to pull a wireline 6,000 feet offshore. The pictures below show the wire sealing system. The wire used was typical cable, therefore, unable to completely seal. However, leakage was minimal. Four different runs were made and all were successful.
